A Note About Weather & Eclipse Visibility

Iceland’s weather is dramatic and unpredictable, and because the solar eclipse is a natural phenomenon, visibility can never be guaranteed. Clouds, fog, or shifting conditions may affect how clearly we see the event.

However, the Westfjords often experience more stable summer conditions, and we will position ourselves in the best possible viewing location based on real-time forecasts.

Even if clouds move in, the atmosphere changes, the dimming light, the temperature drop and the stillness, making it an unforgettable moment regardless.

Nothing in Icelandic nature is guaranteed… except adventure.

Weather Expectations

  • August in the Westfjords typically brings calm, mild conditions:
  • 10–15°C (50–59°F)
  • Long daylight hours
  • Possible fog or low coastal clouds
  • Weather can change fast in Iceland, so we stay flexible and adjust the schedule as needed for safety, comfort, and photography.
